Malaysia, August 6, 2025 – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense, General Tea Seiha, expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to meet with Admiral Samuel Paparo, Commander of the United States Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM), and Edgard Kagan, United States Ambassador to Malaysia, during a high-level bilateral discussion focused on regional peace and security.

During the meeting, Ambassador Kagan reaffirmed the United States’ strong support for the current ceasefire initiative between Cambodia and Thailand. He noted that the initiative, originally launched under the leadership of former President Donald Trump and facilitated by Malaysia in its role as the current ASEAN Chair, remains a key priority for U.S. foreign policy in the region.

Both Ambassador Kagan and Admiral Paparo emphasized the United States’ active role in monitoring the situation to ensure the effective and timely implementation of the ceasefire. They further expressed their government’s readiness to provide essential logistical and technical support for the rapid establishment of the ASEAN Monitoring Team (AMT).
